There were some big changes to the committee of Reading Writers at the end of last year. The most significant was that Claire Dyer, author, poet and all-round superstar, stepped down as Chair of the Group. The reasons for this were manifold, but we felt it was only for the best that we should let her tell you all a bit more.
Take it away, Claire!
‘It’s been an absolute honour and privilege to be Chairman of Reading Writers over the last few years and it’s only the call of books that have made me feel that I should give up the job. I leave knowing that the new Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and the rest of the 2018 Committee will be brilliant.
The call of books is a strong one: I have a new novel being published next month, have been working on another which is with my agent and have plans for yet another to be written over the course of 2018 and this is as well as helping to run Reading’s Poets’ Cafe, teaching for Bracknell & Wokingham College, running a variety of workshops, working on a new poetry collection and looking after hearth and home!
Anyway, to mark the occasion I’d like to share the following article with you which the lovely Jane Cable and Frost Magazine have featured. Jane is the author of three wonderful novels: The Cheesmaker’s House, The Fairie Tree and Another You and her website can be found here: http://janecable.com/
I’m obviously very excited about the publication of The Last Day and would like to take this opportunity of thanking the good people of Reading Writers for being so supportive and wonderfully critical of my writing over the years I’ve been a member: Vita would not be half the woman she is without you all!’
We’ll be talking more about Claire and The Last Day as it moves closer to publication. Keep it locked to Reading Writers!
